The Republic of Lithuania, located in northern Europe, is part of the European Union and the Council of Baltic Sea States.

Lithuania is an independent republic since 11 March 1990, but recognized internationally since 1991. Since then, Lithuania has regained its historical roots, traditions and culture.

The Republic of Lithuania currently enjoys political and economic stability, and a growth rate that is among the highest in Europe. After a century of instability due to wars and the Soviet occupation, Lithuania has become part of developed countries according to the International Monetary Fund.
